the food pantry has been broken into and someone is trying to close it for good …
Our second production tells the story of the Millburg Meals Pantry in Millburg, Wis., the same town where our first play Grand Family Foods was set. Someone broke into the pantry and stole all the food, demand for food assistance remains unabated, the social safety net is unraveling and local forces are trying to undo the pantry’s work. Meanwhile, the pantry’s director faces burnout while balancing two jobs and care of her father who is sinking deeper into dementia. The play highlights how modern economic policies and political decisions filter down to local communities and how individuals and groups can come together to serve their neighbors in need.
